Environmental Education is alive and well at the Wood County Land and Water Conservation Department. Many projects are held at area schools throughout the year. The department has members on WI Land+Water’s Youth Education Committee. The committee coordinates the Conservation Poster & Speaking Contest, conservation camps, and the Envirothon. For more information, contact Tracy Arnold or Emily Salvinski at 421-8475.

School Projects

Ongoing projects include rusty crayfish trapping, purple loosestrife control, and presentations on various topics such as prairies, pollinators, and groundwater.

Conservation Speaking Contest

Each year we sponsor a Conservation Speaking Contest. Students from grades 5-12 compete in three separate divisions. Students research a conservation-related topic and perform a speech on it. Winners receive an award and advance to area and possibly state competition.
